I do not have a son...or daughter for that matter but no I do not think it is a good idea for them to call you by your first name...you earned that title and it should be used!

My son will introduce me by my first name, but that's as far as it goes. If he wants to call me Abby, we'll definitely have to discuss it.

It's very impersonal to do so, but it is up to the parent to decide. Remember, if you make to big of a deal out of it, that could cause an adverse effect.

He can call me by my first name but then I get to call him by his baby names.(booger bear, fart blossom, pamper packer, teenie weenie)
