i never played goalie but from what i can remember the goalie on my team would not make them tight on the top of the legs so when he would go down the top of the pad could lay flatter on the ice. I'm pretty sure I'm right on this won, cause i know it has something to do with loosening up your pads.

your question makes no sense. The butterfly style is a goalie style where the tender tends to drop to ice ice a lot, i personally like facinf butterfly goalies beacuse you throw a headfake at their 5 hole and they drop and you got open net upstairs. So their is the butterfly postion too where the goalie drops to the ice and puts both pads on both sides of their body and uses stick to cover 5 hole. But there is no special pads for the butterfly style if thats what you are asking.

New RBK 7K Pro Goalie Pads are what Fleury wears. they're made for butterfly goalies. i wear mine a little looser than a stand up. there is special padding to protect your knees from smashing into the ice. and the pads will actually rotate out to create the flat to the ice, "wall" effect. there are a ton of other companies that make pads for butterfly.

That's a good question. As far as I know they aren't worn any differently except someone mentioned to me that butterfly goalies wear they a little looser.
