I have a 1973 Mercedes 450 SL and I believe the "brain" is messed up. What I'm wondering is if the "brain" out of a 1974 SLC
will work in the 73 by just installing it. I'm a relatively poor guy who owns a Benz (how smart is that?) and trying to get by as cheaply as possible. Thanks

Not sure about the 70s vintage Benzes, but if it has separate engine and chassis computers make sure you replace BOTH with a matched pair from the same source car! MB 'puters are matched at the factory and will not play well together when split up. Worse yet, a dealer can't match them up, only the factory can. That's EXPEN$IVE!

you could try a swap, shouldn't harm anything but it's really rare for the engine computer to mess up; however you know best if you've tried everything else. Look at the part #s for both your original and the replacement unit---that should help. Also try mercedesshop.com
