Yes it will work...but you may need to buy a new Power adaptor.
If the model is availible in the UK, power adaptors are easily found on EBay. If the model is not available, you can buy transformers/converters, that allow US products to be plugged into UK plug points. They can be found in Maplin

It is possible that your new laptop will have a 110/230V 50/60Hz mains adaptor - if not these are commonly available in the UK.
These usually have a plug in mains cord, so you can change this to a UK type.
Usually you can change the OS language from US english to UK english. If not, learn to live with the minor differences.
The one problem you will have is the keyboard - the Americans don't have the pound sign. You can buy a USB UK keyboard, but this rather defeats the point of having a laptop.
Watch out for keyboard differences with other countries - the French don't use QWERTY, they have a different order of keys.
There is also the issue of warranty to be aware of.
Good luck.
My nephew is currently using a laptop from the US.

Yes you can as long as it is 220 volts some of them are 110 Volts check this out before you buy, other than this there is no problem. One more thing that you need to carry with you is an adaptor like some of the countries have different shapes like UK has flat type Italy and swiss has Round type you can buy this from any electrical shop for 2 or 3 pounds. Ohh look for international guarantee

Shouldn't be any problem - except how do you sort out any problems? In the UK you can go and hammer on the desk of the vendor, they are responsible if it's defective when they sell it to you. Warranty-wise, though, there shouldn't be any snags, at least with the "big" names.
Other than maybe the power supply, about all you might need to do is set things to UK English rather than US English.

maximum computers presently can help any time-honored international extensive voltage. examine the area of the adapter or eletronic gadget. if it says some thing like one hundred - 250 VAC, then you certainly could basically replace the plug or get an a adapter plug.

Yes, however you will probably need to buy some sort of transformer/adaptor arrangement, the Yanks use 110volts, we use 240volts.....like trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

Most likely. I was given mine by a school in the states and it works fine in france. you just need to get adapters for the plugs and such. Everything is about the same except the wall plugs.
