Yes and no... with people active listening works better. Passive listening isn't really paying attention at all.... it is the emotional equivalent to muzak.
For relaxation there are few things better than just letting it all wash over around and through...

guys only use half their brain for listening, i trained myself to be a good passive listener.

I think so, with my mother nagging all the time, it really is easy to just say mmm hmm and yeah without actually listening.

yes. too many people don't listen at all, they just wait for their opening to blow their wad. They are shocked when someone is actually paying attention to what they say.
