Never should you do that, unless the carolers pull a gun on you or something. They are only trying to spread good cheer. We have not had carolers by me in a very long time, but I have great memories of them when I was young, and actually caroling myself. Fa la la

The second you open the door. I used to do it with my German shepherd Muttley with the trick or treaters. They only ever knocked once. They even ran off and told all their mates so they didn't knock on either.
