According to the laws of physics, the universe is expanding and shows no signs of overall decay. It changes, but does not end. Christians believe that god created the conscious, active, intelligent (?) life that has developed into the life on earth as you and I know it. They also believe that life on earth is moving toward a culmination in which god will enter reality in a new and vigorous way, at which time the things we now cannot understand about the meaning of our lives will become clear, and the purpose for the created universe and the life on earth will become manifest. Other religions tend to have versions of both the end and beginning times, and many agree with a previous answer, namely that the world ends for each person when they die, and either a new existence begins for them or their bodies turn again into the matter of which they were made while their soul and consciousness enter a new realm. Even so, the earth and the universe might well contine much as it now is for millions of years.

Yes, the world or earth as we know it will end someday.
Fortunately for us, it is not in the immediate future or even in your/our generation. It will come in another 4-5 billion years more per calculations that our own sun will be totally used up. Thus, when there is no more SUN, there is nothing anymore that big to keep our earth in its present orbit. The fate of the earth will be endless speculation but it is not surprising to assume that it will not be the same anymore as it is today.
Meanwhile, just like every religious or layman will say, --just be good and keep your environment as good for all of humanity for the miniscule time we are present here on earth.
On the religious or moral perspective, who knows if GOD in an instant will, all at once "smite" us all for all the "misbehaving". That is why a lot of religious leaders are admonishing us to "prepare for judgment day".

The world can end any day it wants to end. Yellowstone erupts and kills the planet, a comet the size of alaska comes at us, the san andreas fault takes steroids and kills the planet, God comes and makes millions of people disappear, the sun goes haywire and makes more xrays and gamma rays than the ozone can deflect, you never know what the future can bring.

the world ends for people everyday... when they die, everyone does one day.... mabee you get to do something else after ..mabee not..
but..
if you live in the timeless ness of the moment.. the world is just a perception... and im sure everyone has been perceiving some sort of existance for all eternity//before you were born even...and after you die..... therefore...im sating that the earth/universe perception of life is just a phase that inevatibly must have an ebd when it reaches its new begining
