they are called avatars...i think u can choose 1 by clicking on "my account" at the top of the page,if not, try clicking on your name next to the shadowy picture when u sign into Yahoo answers.

on my laptop, I have to push num lk, then the number keys that are on the u,i,o, j, k,l, and m keys.
