You could record it and somehow transfer it to your computer and then try to place the hum in a website and tell whoever you want to hear the website.

That happens to me all the time. Normally what I do is go to Google.com and type in what few words I do know and search. There are so many lyrics web pages out there, I usually figure it out. If the song came from a show or a commercial, Youtube.com is a good help too
