Hey please can anyone help me !

I got a linksy router today to get wireless on my laptop! i ran the installation disc and it said .... router cannot connect with computer or something or other !

So then I tried about 15 times with the same message!

So I switched off the modem and router and just plugged in the router into the modem directly!

My wifi laptop detects this and it says the signal strrength is excellent however when I try to open internet explorer it says page cannot be displayed "work offline" ! !

Please can anyone answer me?

If you need more info just say !

Did you hardwire the laptop into the router for the first time? This is how it gets and verifies the IP address. Do that, then bring up a page with moving images on it like cnn.com or so other news channel. Make sure the wifi button is in fact in the on position, then as you scroll around the page unplug the ethernet cable so that the wifi kicks in. You might have a security setting too if its still happening. Its a pain I know but you can call tech support with linksys, they are great by the way......but they will start you at level one tech support.....what I just told you to do is around level 3 or 4...but if its not connect right to begin with it won't work. The other thing you need to look at is how up to date your windows apps are. For the longest time sp2 wasn't wireless combatible...its is now though.

Someone gave you the number for Linksys customer support. Call them, they have a most excellent staff and will help you with any problem. I have linksys cable modem, router and usb adapter, and they got it all running for me, as well as set up the right security for the wifi.

First off, please read the docs that came with your router thoroughly! It has everything that you need to know to get your router up and running. Simply running the install CD is often not enough ESPECIALLY if you have a DSL account.

Once you've followed the instructions TO THE LETTER, update your post and someone here might be able to help you if it's still not working.

The vast majority of failures when setting up a router, especially a wireless one, are due to the users' failure to RTFM completely and follow the instructions EXACTLY.

linksys normaly runs WPA / WEP security. Look at the paper work which came with teh router, U'll find a username and password. Good Luck

Try this go to start > control panel > system > hardware > device manager > find you wireless card or your ethernet card and make sure it is set at like 10 half or i think half duplex. If this doesn't work, just call customer support.
