I have a problem with my printer. Well when I say problem, it's more of an amazing inconvenience. Every now and then (perhaps if I've had to unplug my printer), behind the printer's name in the queueing window it'll say "Use Printer Offline" - and whenever this happens the printer refuses to print. When I go into the "Print" menu and attempt to uncheck this option, it never unchecks. Retstarting, turning printer on/off has really no effect and I can never quite remember how to sort it. Can anyone tell me how to sort this?

Please let me assure you, I am no no novice, I don't need to check it is plugged in. I also know it is not faulty. It is a Canon MPC 400, not that that is of any help to you. I am also running Windows XP, again which doesn't help you in the slightest.

This sounds like a problem I had with my old Lexmark all in one. After having some other problems with it I decided to uninstall and reinstall all the printer software. After I did that it started printing again but would periodically appear offline.

It turned out that the first uninstall wasn't completely successful and that remaining parts of the first install were conflicting with the second. after some more inquiries I discovered that component parts of printer software programs are very similar to each other and don't always get uninstalled when uninstalling a previous printer software program.

So my question to you is, is your printer a recent aquisition and have you properly uninstalled the previous printer software. It sounds to me as though your offline problem is a conflict of software?

Well, usually when you uncheck the "USE PRINTER OFFLINE" option, it will uncheck it. You may have a problem with the printer. First of all, what kind of printer is it??? Laserjet/inkject and when brand and model? You may need to call the company and ask for technical support. They most likely will be able to help you. Just hoping you have warranty. Buy maybe you have to uninstall the printer and re-install it. Hopefully you have a PC, not MAC. Make sure that the printer is not offline. Check the status of your printer. Aside from that, I'm sorry, call technical support. Good Luck!

You should be able to go into printer options under the control panel choose the printer icon, right click on your printer, make sure the "use printer offline" isn't checked

I wish I could, I have an HP that does that a lot......all I can do is wait....a couple of days!!! Then it will clear itself.....it does the same fricking thing if it runs out of paper. I would keep the cd handy and when it happens uninstall and reinstall....I think it must get lost looking for something.

if you are hooked up by USB, check and update the USB driver. U might have an IRQ issue too. Also, update the printer driver and if possible the CMOS/BIOS too. That should be a good start....good luck.
