Host /countries from the same continent as the host [usually neghbouring countries] win worldcup /play in final if not semi finals. So it is much likely that one country from africa can string suprises by winning fifa world cup for the first time .Which african country can do that . you can only deny this if you don't know much about world cup.[2/ more african countries if you like]

Obviously Nigeria and only Nigeria. They are 9th in the world rankings and the best club in Africa. If they were in 2006 world cup they would have reached the quarter or semi-finals.

Just went with a top 6 1)All Blacks - There is no Doubt that they are the form team at the moment, However everyone knows what happens when it comes to WC time. Saying that though, they are playing in the same place they won it all those years ago. 2)South Africa - This was a toss up for me between the boks and the Wallabies. If South Africa can play like they did the other year they will be hard to stop. 3)Australia - With the reds coming into form , Australia may be looking like a danger team this year. With Robbie Deans at the helm and combinations like Genia-Cooper they could be unstoppable 4)France - Probably will make a Semi Final but i can't see them upsetting the top three teams 5)Ireland - Are capable of causing Upsets, may even make the semi finals 6)England - If they can provide a team that saw them win the 2003 world cup

Nigeria will always have a chance as dark horses but everyone always says that and they always fail to deliver on the big stage, much like Spain. There are some good African teams out there, but I don't think the cup will be going to this part of the world anytime soon.

Senegal will go close hopefully win it why?the team is youngish & has the know how now to progress & most other football teams players are almost over the hill looking at some of the past performances of some countries including England in the last world cup.

Are you asking on the grounds that no African country can go far in the competition?
That is not a criterion,consider USA,Japan and Korea.
It is about popularising the beautiful game!
Cxmeroun and Nigeria will do well and watch Tunisia as a dark horse.
Ivory Coast has internal problems.

CAMEROUN! Cameroun is the Brasil of Africa. it's b/c of Cameroun that there's now 5 openings for African countries in the World Cup. And Cameroun has Eto'o! 3rd best player in the world according to FIFA, 2nd according to me!
