while i enjoyed the star wars movies, i've always preferred star trek - how about the rest of you?

I enjoy science fiction and if I had to choose, Star Trek gets the nod. Star Trek also seems to showcase alot more science and technology.
One the the key differences between Star Wars and Star Trek, for me at least... is that Trek focuses on exploration, new life forms, mystery, some hard science and a better tomorrow.
Star Wars, in contrast, has the fan accept their surroundings without alot of backend technical details. In Star Wars you can walk into a bar and be surrounded by several different lifeforms but learn little about their capabilities. There is no exploration since the environment is preset (colonial) and the players are all defined. The general plot is also defined... it remains a political conflict.
They both tackle science-fiction from different angles and do it about as well as anyone. I do believe that Star Trek started moving away from what I'll call it's core model and began to shift into the Star Wars model. DS9 may be the best example but many specific episodes from the other various Treks duplicated the same thing -- that is, they moved toward character development and continuing conflicts instead of pushing the boundaries of space, exploration and science.
So Star Trek gets a big nod from me because (when done correctlyTM) it engages you, forces you to think, teaches you and contemplates a possible real tomorrow.

Star Wars is definitely the best for movies. I didn't know that Star Trek also had a movie, but even so, I think it's best to just watch it as a show, but Star Wars is awesome.

Ive never liked star trek but ive always enjoyed star wars trilogy so ill go with star wars for 10 points alex lol

I enjoy watching Star Trek more. Star Wars is really dumb(personal opinion)

Star Wars!! I'm an insane Star Wars fan, tattoos, clothing, I collect figures, etc. My brother always used to make me watch Star Trek so maybe that's why I don't like it. But Star Wars is just straight up amazing.

There's inherently more detail in Trek because it has more TV hours and time to develop characters (although a Star Wars TV series is in development). The prequel movies have seriously tainted the appeal of Star Wars. Always Trek for me.
