Yes it may be a good idea. Since, Windows XP is designed to work with NFTS, your computer may actually run better. However, you run the risk of losing data. So make sure this is really something you want to do before continuing. God Bless and Merry Christmas.

If you intend to only use NT windows (Windows 2000, XP, Vista) then absolutely. The problem is that if you want to switch to linux at some point the driver that writes to the NTFS file system is still in it's experimental stage. Also, if you are dual booting an NT operating operating system and and a DOS based operating system (Windows 98, ME ...) the DOS based OS will not be able to read the NTFS partition. Otherwise, the NTFS is better (Generally speaking) .

I would convert to NTFS for these reasons:

#1 - file security

#2 - NTFS fragments less than FAT32

#3 - easier to recover data deleted from Recycle Bin with NTFS than FAT32.

I suggest you should not convert it from FAT32 to NTFS, coz it will slow down your system altogether. NTFS is desirable in heavy servers where data is critical and are backed by high speed processors.

NTFS had more options and reduced file table size and cluster size. in general, NTFS drive had options to compress files or u can encrypt . so that other user of ur PC cant able to see ur encrypted files
very good approach

Yes! For one, security. There is NO security with FAT32. Next is that FAT32 is limited in the size of file it can handle, limited to 2GB which is nothing by today's standards.

Look at the software you are using. Some win32 programs, will not work with NTFS.
Microsoft even warns of this possibilty.
