Freedom of Speech in america is an illusion for those who want to express the "other side" of any viewpoint. Al Jazeera will not be supported because of the illusion our current media has set- which is that it is run by people who are not puppets of our government. Sadly, religion and race has more to do with it as well. Al jazeera is an arabic and muslim station and contradictory all that our country stands for this race, this religion is being attacked.

What a bunch of cry babies?

You want to spout Anti-American speech and try to say a person with that attitude doesn't have a venue in the USA, yet here you are openly speaking in a public forum and kicking the USA in the teeth all the while.
You are arrogantly ignorant to blaspheme the very country whose freedoms are the target of extremist like Al-Jazeera.
Freedom of speech is for the citizens of the United States of America.
Try and speak out against tyranny, oppression, Islamic fundamentalist, or even against the Al-Jazeera network and see how long it would be before you get shot in the head, strapped to a car bomb, watch your wife and family being raped and murdered, or some other solution for your insolence.

The US media is very biased - just watch the news during an election period, you will see which network supports which candidate. Also there are a lot of controls on the US media, maybe not direct censorship but implied - being too friendly to foreign interests can have disastrous consequences. Look what happened to the Dixie Chicks when they made an off the cuff remark. A news outlet that supports something that is not popular in the US will quickly feel the wrath of the uninformed masses that cry free speech when they are threatened but also cry traitors on others when people express opinions they don't like. You can't have truly free speech when the media is only interested in money and ratings.

Al-Jazeera is not exactly a news medium. They are a vessel for extremists to promote their fundamentalist garbage and could also be a communications device for terrorists.

I am more interested in protecting our country than giving in to someones camouflaged first amendment sob story.

Simply because aljazeera represents the US hand in the arab world. Aljazeera and US have the same common interests in the arab world which is being allies with Israel, and aljazeera is one of only 2 stations that allows for israelis to talk about present situation under the motto: the opinion and the other opinion.

The US is hypocritical. The media, which is an extension of the government, is selective about Freedom of Speech: they only approve of it if they agree with it.

The loss of Freedom of Speech in the US extends far beyond their lack of support for Al Jazeera. The citizens themselves have lost a measure of freedom in this area. It is unbelievable that more people are not concerned with this.

Freedom of speech only comes into play in the USA if you agree with what they're saying. Truth has nothing to do with it.

Why do we need Al-Jazeera when we already have CBS, NBC, and ABC?
Isn't that enough anti-American propaganda?
