It could be tricky, depending on where you live. The hardiness zone for your tree (pinus pinea) is 6-8. So if you live in coastal Massachusetts, or Connecticut or Rhode Island, you should be okay. Elsewhere, you're really going to have to think about winter protection and it may be too cold, unless you have a little warm micro-climate where you can plant the tree. Since they get really big (80 ft high, 30-40 ft spread) location will obviously be an issue. They like full sun and can tolerate drought. The soil needs to be well drained. Good luck.

If you already have a planted tree then you should know that pines don't need to be fed much, if at all. Feeding them can kill them. And I'm sure new England gets plenty of rain so don't bother watering it either.

They sound like pretty trees but don't worry if it doesn't work out; there are lots of trees that would do well there.
