How important is it? I'm think about going for my Masters but the program i want to at the school isn't accredided. Do potential employers really go and check to see if schools are accredided?

Well I don't have much of a choice. All other schools that offer the major I want in my region require recommendation letters. This one doesn't.

It depends on what field you are looking at. In some a non-accredited program could be worthless. You will want to distinquish between accreditation of the college and the program. Also look at if the program is in the accreditation process or not. Clearly accreditation of a program tells you it meets the national standards of the profession, which will help you ensure your education has portability outside of the state you are in. Some programs have have state approval making graduates eligible for licensure but not outside the state until the program becomes accredited.

well accreditation is even more important in post-graduate degrees. i wouldn't suggest going to a school that isnt accredited. that is an indication that the school, for some reason, isn't up to par with other institutions.

When you are spending money to get into grad school, might as well go to an accredited one!

Most do. I would recomend trying an accredited school, stay away from unaccredited schools.
