if you drink a lot of liquor or eat a lot of chocolate it'll make you bleed faster and heavier then the next day you should be off.

i've heard exercising can help expell the blood but I don't know if for sure it works

Fasting for the week your bleeding slows it down.
Atleast it worked for me.
