To do this, you will need to purchase a "cross-over" cable. It is a special USB or Lan cable that hooks computer to computer. I do not think that a standard ethernet cable will work.
After you purchase a "x cable", you will go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>File and Transfer Wizard
Follow the online instructions. You will need a 3.5" floppy disk and/or your original Windows XP cd-rom to complete this task. There are many things to explain regarding the Transfer / Wizard Disk and this is not an feisable place for a step-by-step walkthrough of every detail regarding this Windows function, but it should be a running start.

There is a great program out there called IntelliMover. It transfers all of you information from your old computer to your new computer. Or, if you'd rather not purchase new software just for your Sims game, you can try to put all of the folders for your sims game that are on your old computer onto disk and load them onto the new computer. This can be a tedious process, and it can use a lot of disks (if you don't use RW disks, that is...) but, if you are a good deal into your game, then it's well worth it.
