The real issue is that bordon is a burdon nobody HAS to bear. Anybody who wants to make the effort, and develop the determination, to become fully involved in life, will find "boredom" vanishing like a summer morning mist when the sun comes up.
The world doesn't OWE any of us a life. It is up to each one of us to get out there and make our own place in the world, however small it might be. It is something that is denied to nobody from the poorest to the wealthiest. It only doesn't happen when that person chooses to deny it to himself - for whatever reason that might be.
When I was very small, my mother who was a wonderful story-teller, told me one about the old dog who was sitting howling. Along strolled an ant and stopped and asked the dog why he was making such a noise. The dog said "Because I am sitting on this horrible sharp piece of rock. It's very uncomfortable, and it hurts." The ant thought for a moment, and said "Well, Dog, do you see that nice patch of soft grass over there?" "Yes" replied Dog "What about it"? Ant replied "I have a wonderful idea, why don't you get up off that sharp rock, and go sit on that lovely, soft, cool, comfortable grass" Dog humped and grumped, and said "Awww, OK" He climbed painfully off that sharp old rock, and shuffled a few feet over, and flopped down on that grassy patch. It was ohhhh so soft and comfortable, and pretty soon a huuuuge grin came on Dog's face, showing all those big white teeth of his "Well" said Ant "Isn't that better?" "It certainly is" replied Dog "Thank you Ant. You are very clever and wise"
The ant smiled back, and said "You're welcome, Dog" and scuttled off about his own anty business, shaking his head as he wondered why in the world Dog hadn't thought of that himself
I was only about four years old when mother told me that story. I remembered it all over the years to the present, and it never ceases to amaze me how many people I have run into, or heard about in this life, who are exactly like that old dog, who prefer somehow to go right on sitting there on a sharp, painful chunk of rock, because it just never occurs to them to g et up and move over. lol.

Stinkfist by Tool Something has to change. Un-deniable dilemma. Boredom's not a burden Anyone should bear. Constant over stimu-lation numbs me but I would not want You any other way. Cause, It's not enough. I need more. Nothing seems to satisfy. I said, I don't want it. I just need it. To breathe, to feel, to know I'm alive. Finger deep within the borderline. Show me that you love me and that we belong together. Relax, turn around and take my hand. I can help you change Tired moments into pleasure. Say the word and we'll be Well upon our way. Blend and balance Pain and comfort Deep within you Till you will not want me any other way. But, It's not enough. I need more. Nothing seems to satisfy. I said, I don't want it. I just need it. To breathe, to feel, to know I'm alive. Knuckle deep inside the borderline. This may hurt a little but it's something you'll get used to. Relax. Slip away. Something kinda sad about the way that things have come to be. Desensitized to everything. What became of subtlety? How can this mean anything to me If I really don't feel anything at all? I'll keep digging till I feel something. Elbow deep inside the borderline. Show me that you love me and that we belong together. Shoulder deep within the borderline. Relax. Turn around and take my hand.

If they are plagued by boredom, it's their own damned fault. There are a million interesting things to learn about, explore, travel, volunteer, etc. etc. etc. Starving people aren't bored. Boredom is a luxury for the lazy.

Boredom is a frame of mind....
down time can give you time to reflect on what is important in life...God, your family and then whatever happens to be going on in your world at the moment.
Down time can be utilized by studying God's Word and spending great quality prayer time with Him!
Merry Christmas and a very Blessed New Year to you!!

Never heard the song but there is truth to that. I think sometimes we just need to endure boredom because it makes the good times even more memorable.

I never bare it. No one is ever bored, because thinking that you are bored alleviates boredom.

Ditto what Tree hugger said. I will add that if one stays bored very long it's by choice. We can find something to do to become unbored!
