You're saying the engine is missing and running hot. You have a bad head gasket. Is there steam, not oil smoke, coming out the exhaust pipe? Is the water in the radiator bubbling and have the smell of gas. Be careful doing this you can get burned real bad. Take it to or have a good mechanic check it out. Don't wait to long or you'll be replacing the motor.

sounds to me like you have a bad plug or plug wire.If the car is not using all the cylinders it makes the car very inefficient and therefore can cause it to run hot and waste more fuel seeing that the one cylinder is not firing.
If a wire is bad or has a cut it usually will arch a spark in the bad area of the wire.to test this open the Hood and start the car in complete dark. look on either side of the motor for little sparks. If you see any than that is your problem. take it to a service place and have the wires changed.Best to have the plugs changed as well.
