It means that you have gotten a certain grade point average overall for the term or the year. To make the dean's list, go to all your classes, pay attention, participate, turn in all your assignments on time done to the best of your ability, ace your tests and exams -- and you'll reap the rewards...a well-deserved fantastic grade and a place on the list!
If your grades are high enough, you'll eventually graduate magna or summa c u m laude, which looks really, really good on any future job resume or CV.
Good luck!

To make the Deans List at college, you had to obtain all B's or better for a semester at college. I have been on the Deans list for 5 semesters now, and this semester that just finished will be my 6th.
Its a great benefit fo you and money as well, keep up the good work and you will make the national Deans List. Only a certain percentage of students make this list, i was one, you can be and will be too.
But yeah it means that your grades stand out to the college, that you are focused on your studies, that you are determined to be something.
Great job, keep up the good work!!

It means you have acheived grades of all A's for the semester. When I did it, I received a letter from the Dean telling me how great I am, but nothing more than that. BUT, 10 years later, I still put on my resume that I was a Dean's List student, and if you make the Dean's List in college, you should put it on - things like this really do help on a resume.

Dean's (or President's) list is usually a 4.0 GPA for the semester.
In some schools, they also have a part-time Dean's (or President's) list if you are under 9 credit hours I believe.
In some schools, you can also be accepted to one of those honor roll fraternity/sorority organizations if your GPA is a 3.5 or higher. I think at a community college it's like Phi Theta Kappa or something like that, I forget the name.
