No.
You can be a coach, but not a good coach and absolutely never a great one.
The same thing applies in most fields but we are so used to publicity, hype, outright lies that we seem to have lost site of the fact that an awful lot of people are doing only a marginally acceptable job.

If you never played sports, how could you be interested in coaching a sport, if you are really don't know the game how could you teach someone else how to play it. I really don't think if you never played a sport, you won't be a good coach.

Yes you can. I started coaching wrestling 2 years ago even though I had never wrestled in my life. My dad was an all-state wrestler and my best friend a state-champion runner up (thats second place for those of you keeping track at home). I myself had never wrestled, but do now. At the time I knew very little, only basics I had picked up watching my friend. As time grew I eventually learned to love the sport so much that I now wrestle.
It basically comes down to your determination. If you want to be a good coach you need to learn the game, start with the basics. Luckily, most sports are just about getting people motivated.
The best of luck to you, happy holidays.

Sure. Find some coaching classes to go to so you can learn the specifics of your sport.
A large part of coaching is a mental thing.

what a very very intelligent person who can get more out of reading a book then anyone else you or I know, and this person has read all kinds of books on your sport, could this person tell you what and how to do it , and be able to sit there and pull all your work apart and examine it in detail, then fix what ever problem your having, lets say this person is also in a wheel char, why couldn't this person teach you more than you all know now?
I think so, so I say YES they could
good luck

it will not be that easy,, when you play any game you learn the things that are not taught....... and as a coach you pass those things along and without any experience you are putting your players in an unfair situation

if you understand it and have a passion for it, you could be great. i think you should try itout before making the decision to coach someone. You should practice so you at least look like you know what you are doing. it also kind depends on the sport.

Sure you can. But there will definitly be a lack of sorts in you. Something you'll have to work extra hard on, what other coaches get naturally.

Prime example - ex-Australian rugby coach Alan Jones.
Never played a game of rugby in his life, but one of our best ever coaches.
