Im sick of Americasn being jealous of Great british bands and saying cra like that, i mean women all over the world used to worship the groud they walked on, Millions of people liked their music, they had numerous number ones, they have influenced musicians all over the world, they are without a doubt the gods of music, even americans loved them, and its just a few who like to say they were overated, yeah, i guess people just bought their albums for a joke, and i guess women jumped in front of their cars (to stop them) for no reason. Sorry americans but you can just admit that the beatles, ROCKED, and still do even, most americans would agree with me.

The Beatles were the foundation of modern pop/rock and considering how large a commercial success they were, in addition to being immeasurably influential, I think it's impossible for The Beatles to be overrated. They were simultaneously extraordinarily popular and critically acclaimed, which is something no other band has achieved since then.
Modern music would not be where it is today without The Beatles, which I think it actually part of the problem. When young kids today listen to their music, so much of it owes homage to The Beatles that when they listen to The Beatles, it doesn't sound different than anything they're hearing today. However, when put in the cultural context of their own time, we can see just how incredible The Beatles were and still are. So in summary, yes, The Beatles kicked ***!!!

I wasn´t a big fan of The Beatles but they did have a great talent - and I am English.
They did write and play some great songs - but they also churned out some very poor material.
It is all down do individual taste I suppose.
Ringo was a terrible drummer and George Harrison was a mediocre guitarist - but they had a distinctive sound and were always better than The Stones in my eyes.
And yes, I did meet them all in the 1960's and bumped into Paul in Opryland, Nashville, in 1974. He was the one with more professionalism and talent than the other three.

The Beatles were a good band but time has definitely made them seem better than they were. The thing with them is that they were the first phenomenon band where it was the whole package that people went for. They were fancied by girls and could write good enough songs (which was rare in those days as bands were usually just performers not writers). They had the 'it' factor that hit the spot; that ingredient you can't define. But, musically they weren't as brilliant as time has made them seem.
And just to add, I'm British.

The Beatles were the Zenith of popular music and style.
What made them so good was their ability to change styles and not be branded with the same brush. The Beatles will live on for a couple of centuries and thank god someone like 50cent will be forgotten by then.
The Beatles were more than Music they were a life changing experience.

The Beatles were good , but not great.. Very very over-rated, just a bunch of scousers who were slightly better than the other crap bands around at the time...Not fit to be in the same league as the Stones

No, you are mistaken, anyone who said that would be utterly tone deaf and have absolutely no understanding or appreciation of music. If it is of any consolation "they" said the same about Bach,Rachmaninoff ,Chopin, Cole Porter, Glen Miller,Elton John and Queen as they ran all the way to the bank.
