The message of the film is the mayans made mistakes that ultimately led to their demise, and in present times we are making similar mistakes including over using natural resorces and political corruption.

This film shows us what can ultimately happen to a "great" civilization when we ignore the warning signs.

I didn't see a message pasted all over this film. I thought it was a great action picture that "has" to be seen on the big screen. There were small moments of the movie telling us to take care of our earth because it is all we have, but this is not thrown in our face every five minutes.

There is a message. The message is, Mel Gibson will be losing millions.

The message is that Mel Gibson has this very weird, kinky thing about excessive and highly graphic depictions of violence.
Gee whiz, I sure miss that relatively sedate series of lethal weapons...
