Could be a heat problem, make sure your fans are all running and clean out the dust bunnies.

If that's not it, then tune up your antivirus and antispyware software.

If it just started happening, it's most likely caused by spyware or a virus on your pc. This happens because these two items are using up the resources your pc needs to operate. Since the pc cannot keep up with all the commands it is given, it will freeze up and stop responding. You can find out all about Spyware here, and how to remove it.

Could be a heat problem.

Most likely though in this day and age you are infected with Malware. Try downloading a trial from Nod32.com and running a scan to clean up your computer.

Keep a virtual memory booster. It frees the clogged RAM, and you have lesser hang-ups. I use RAM Booster, which is very effective. Here is the link to download it:
http://www.download.com/rambooster/3000-...
After downloading it, follow the steps:
*. Click on Edit>Options and tick the follow options:
(a) Set auto optimisation on
(b) Show CPU usage
(c) Start minimised
(d) Launch automatically at start up
Also, increase the auto optimisation level and 'Mb of RAM to free at auto level' as per your requirement.

You may also do a spyware scan. Download this free anti-spyware, update it and do a full system scan:
AdAware SE (7): http://www.download.com/ad-aware-se-pers...

take it to someone and have them "clean" it. I have and old computer and have to do this periodically. I am not sure what the cause. Where I live you can get this done for about $40.

Too many things it could be. You need to have someone who knows computers look at it. Hopefully you have a friend who is. It should be fairly easy to fix. Probably.
