People always say the easiest way to tell if a person is shy is through their body language. I've heard that shy people have trouble maintaining eye contact, but is there any other type of body language they display?

They may also keep their head down. They may stand at the edge of a room, fearing to engage in social conversation.

Remember that these are generalities. While they may be true for most, they may not be true for everyone. For instance, I am a shy/quiet person, and I have no problem with eye contact. However, when conversing with someone with which I am unfamiliar, my answers and comments are succinct.

They will keep their hands in front- acting as a shield. They may also fidget when uncomfortable in social situations.

They talk very low to where you almost cannot hear them.
