I went to a clothing optional beach with three friends. All whom I am wondering are my ex friends now. The three friends were white and I am Black. I am not shy by nature so when we got to the beach (Haulover Beach, Miami, FL) I stripped naked. The three girls (we are all 18 and freshman in college) decided to keep their bikinis on. I mean the first few minutes were akward being nude in front of them but then it seemed ok and then started talking and we eventually walked the shore, I was still nude and these three ex friends in their bikinis. One of the girls Kristin said " I look like a little monkey ape walking around naked " and later in the day my friend Courtney said " Your a dirty BOY going nude today ".

These girls havent ever ever remotely said anything racial to me EVER. Was this just me being made fun of cause I was totally nude and they were not? Or was there more to it? Am I over thinking this?

Well it sort of sounds like your friends were having a little fun with you, but it seemed really harshed.. but just forget about it, cuz u can find better friends then they were. but they might of thought tht it wuz funny but it is rele different from your feelings.

The real deal is you are black and they are white and it is what it is. I do have black friends I kick it with (between us) I'm the bean eater and there the watermelon lovers.Me being mexican I am open to mexican jokes with out being offended and them also BUT this is the friendship we've developed. If you are in fact friends to ignore the fact that there are racial differences in my oppinion is nieve. Now there are people who could tell the same jokes and I will be offended , it really all depends on which friend its from. Not which race. If your friends where black would it have been funny or offensive? Where they truelly trying to hurt you or was it just a bad joke? We've all put our foot in are mouths before. If they were truely racist they would'nt be your "friends" . Talk to them and let them know how you felt and come to the understanding that you are sensitive about racial jokes. They apollogize move on and invite me to the beach next time!

Maybe you should have waited for them to take there's off first, your the male, would be very awkward for me if you did that I would probably be a little spiteful if I had to spend the day with your being nude and your not being savvy to that. Kinda goes with manners don't you think? I would defiantly not like the snide remark but I'm sure that was her thinking.

You should ask them this question too.
But I think that it was more because you took your bikini off while they did not that fueled the jokes. If they were really your friends before, then it must not be a racial thing. It sounds to me like it was because you were totally nude.

I think they were making fun of you choosing to go naked and they all seem more modest... I don't think it had any thing to do with race. It may have made them uncomfortable that you chose to be nude so they said stupid stuff that they didn't put any thought into.

if a friend has never ever said any thing racial to you than i really think it was just out of the fun and the fact that you were nude. i have friends that are african american and they make fun of me cauz i would be diffrent from them. they ont do it because i am white but because i am a friend of theirs. "...my friend Courtney said " Your a dirty BOY going nude today..." i dont think she ment it like as in your colour i think she ment it as i would have prolly said it, as in your crazy for have done that. hey i am a 16 year old who thinks of diffrent ways to help people and i hope that my advice really helps you, but in my opinion is to trust that they didnt mean any harm in what they said. i hope that you have a happy holidays and good luck

Well since these are your friends they may not deliberately intended on being rascist. They may not be exposed to many African Americans to understand what is suitable to be said and what is not suitable to be said. Just talk to them and let them know what they said was not acceptable and their reaction may or may not expose if they are truely rascist or not.

Yeah, the "little monkey ape" comment was a little out of line

They probably said all of those things because you made them feel awkward and they were hinting you to put your clothes back on

If it was me I would confront them but you do whatever you feel, My opinion is they were out of line even if they thought they were just kidding tell them how you felt maybe it was a misunderstanding but they need to apologize to you
