It's the guy, not the shirt. Come on, Brad Pitt? Put him in a dress and he's still sexy. It might have something to do with the fact that those shirts tend to be open a bit at the top, and the view of a strong chest is a turn-on.

Well, only because it's Johnny Depp/Jack Sparrow wearing it and because that's what pirates supposedly wore. If I saw some guy walking around, going about his everyday business wearing a poofy shirt, I'd think what the hell does this goof think he's doing, he can't possibly think he's going to get women with that stupid shirt.

it can be sexy on some men (ralph fiennes in "shakespeare in love, brad pitt/ tom cruise in "interview with a vampire") , ridiculous on others (remember that episode of Seinfeld?). i don't like guys who wear pink..lol by far that looks more feminine and ridiculous than a pirate shirt. a guy with a nice build like brad, tom, orlando or johnny can wear ANYTHING and be sexy because they have the confidence and bodies to fill it.

Because the society thinks that way... Think about it, if there were only two types of guys at your high school, and one type wore baggy jeans and has spiky hair, and the other type wore high-waisted trousers and big ugly glasses, who do you think most girls would go for? The type with baggy jeans of course, because everybody thinks they are the cool guys. Almost everybody thinks boys who look like bad-*** punks are cool, because they look rebellious and independent. Girls also like the athletic guys, because they have muscular bodies and they look "cool" in basketball shorts and athletic shoes. Who would go for the boys that go running to their mommies everytime someone makes them cry?

perhaps they're seeking the ultimate in a "lesbian identified" male? this is one of my favorite lines from the tv show "the l word". it was delivered by a guy who "wanted to be with a woman as a woman". an intriguing idea, eh ;-)

i believe most of the respondents dont like those guys...what is the conclusion then? I think its just a matter of personal perspective.your personal influences which includes your friends,spirituality and educational background.your own personal definiton of "HOT".
