My husband said that if I were a "REAL" wife I would have taken time off work to decorate the house and bake Christmas cookies. Is he right; is that what REAL wives do? Or is he possessed by the ghost of Norman Rockwell? Are women with REAL careers not REAL wives?

Forgot to add that I travel out of town Monday through Friday for my job.

I choose to work because I am professional and I enjoy what I do. My parents invested in my education and I want a good ROI.

Just tell him that if he were a real man, hed have done it for you without any thought, especially if he was considerate of you and your career and just how valuable your time is.Your career is just as real as his, period. If you had nothing else to do then its a different story. He sounds like one of those old fashioned macho males. Im an ex professional footballer with a full time career and a part time business owner who actually happens to love to help around the house and my wife. I bake, cook, clean, house repairs, yard work, father, grandfather, etc,, and does this make me less of a so called "real" man for doing these? I think not. So just tell him to swallow some of that macho pride and get busy helping you around the house and bake his own damn Xmas cookies if he wants them so bad or if he helps then maybe you bake him some cookies if hes a good boy. Good Luck and Merry Christmas

Well, it is a part of the Christmas season, but he should understand and he knew that when he married you. He should be the one to decorate the house. HEREs a good one. Have a friend bake the cookies, and give her a key. Let her come over and decorate your house. Have her do it while he is at work. Real women cannot do it all but they can find a way to get the job done so everyone is happy. Does he really need to know how it got done. ? If he ask Tell Him You A Real Women !

Do real husbands help their wives decorate the house for Christmas and help her make Christmas cookies? The wife does not do these things alone. Christmas is a family holiday, everyone shares in the decorating, cooking and other festivities. So tell him to get off the couch or out of his easy chair and he will have a real nice old fashion Christmas with all the trimmings.

Well i really think your husband is wanting the 1950's leave it to bever wife .

And in todays world with BOTH of you working it is not fair to you .

One thing you must under stand is us men have had alot of changes in the last 20 years . A man like me 44 years old had a stay at home mom who handled the house and made cookies and dinner and many things that nobody gave her credit for .

But today us men have Equal partners in the work force so we have to forget what good old mom had time to do and understand today wife is just as busy with out of home work and really should thank her for making ends meet even if that means no Xmas cookies .

So after all of that YES you are a real wife and really if he wants the cookies that bad there is nothing stopping HIM from going to the store and buying some shove in the oven wait 15 mins cookies and presto he has some Xmas cookies .

Plus wouldn't it be nice of him to have some ready for you when you get home .

Everyone has their own idea of what should be done around Christmas time. I'm a real wife, and I have not done any decorating or cookie baking. My husband won't be home for the holidays. The most I've done, is get a gift for the family I'll be spending Christmas with, and sent Christmas cards out to my immediate family.

He wants you to decorate and make cookies huh? Go get some tinsel, throw it all over the house and get some Pillsbury break and bake cookies for him.. then when he doesn't give you a HUGE (and dear, I mean at least 2 carats) diamond ring for Christmas, tell him that's what a 'real' husband does.

And I do decorate the house and make homemade cookies on Christmas.. but that doesn't make me any less of a 'real' wife then you are.. and you can tell him the rest of the wives agree.

I just think it depends on th woman and when they marry you they know what they're getting. I'm a baker. I LOVE TO COOK. I made sugar cookies and decorated them with the kids. I love to make banana bread. I've made peanut brittle and some chocolate bark with candied pecans. All of this stuff is going to a Christmas party that my aunt is hosting. There will come a time when you love to bake. I hated it about 4 years ago but now I find it therapeutic during the holiday season.

you have to divide your time between family, home and work.....could it be that your married to your job?
you could have taken time off early or even a day a week during this holiday season......but your husband could have decorated the house and even went to the grocery store and helped to purchase items for holiday baking.
sooooooo-----maybe your both wrong-------->
REAL women with careers can balance their work load along with their home life.....christmas only comes once a year, you should enjoy what it means. some women become married to their job (i know a woman that is married to her job---she even came into the hospital on thanksgiving to do evaluation on her employees instead of being with her husband and kids and going to her parents for dinner) now thats wrong just plain wrong.

Real husbands are grown-ups, not adolescent-minded twits like yours. Real husbands - like this one - bake cookies, change diapers, help with the laundry, cook like professional chefs, do the dishes, walk the dog. And we mow the lawn, split the firewood, mulch the garden, fix the blamed radiator on her pick-em-up, paint the house, fix the shingles, wrap Christmas presents, calmly wipe the blood off a severely skinned knee and wash and bandage it, join the VFW and the Marine Corps League and can shoot a gnat off your husband's head at a thousand yards. AND we love our wives and admire their ability to hold down a REAL career, too. Tell that twit if he wants a cookie to make his own fuggin' cookies!
