It seems when the republicans are in power, there is more support for Israel? However, when it comes to elections, it seems more Jews vote for democrats then republicans. Maybe I am wrong, but that is what I understand?

There is a strong historical tradition of Jews voting Democrat. This tradition is very hard to break, even if circumstances change. It wasn't always that one could clearly state that Republicans were more pro Israel than Democrats and even if they were, perhaps the view was that the Democratic party was "sufficiently" pro Israel, i.e. Israel wasn't a "deal breaker".

Also, I once saw a poll cited in which it claimed that only about 25% of American Jewish voters considered the "Israel issue" a high priority. So, again, positions on Israel are not a deal breaker.

I have, though, seen polls cited that the younger someone was (for Jews), the more likely they would vote Republican, possibly indicating that the older generation is more set in its ways.

You are not wrong.
Republicans support Jews and Jews vote Democrat.
Under Bush, blacks have purchased homes and moved up the economic ladder, more than anytime in history. Blacks vote Democrat.
Go figure.
(For some reason, the Democrat Party has Power over Jew leaders and Black leaders. Just like the Democrat Party & Union Bosses control the rank & file union members.)

I kind of understand, because I used to be on the Democrat Plantation.
I ESCAPED. I wish others would.

Don't confuse American Jews with actual Israelis... there's a big difference.
It's like saying that an Irish-American is Irish, when they are far, far from being Irish.

You are Correct. FDR was a Democrat that saved them from the Nazi's. This is the only explanation that I can think of. As lame as it is. I simply don't get it. Good Question.

I'm not surprised if more jews vote for us, we're not religious fanatics that are trying to erode the concept of state and church seperation.
