What does it mean when I see "E/I" in the corner of the screen on TV?

I've noticed that many channels and programs have the letters: "E/I" on the screen during TV programs. What do they mean?

E/I stands for educational/informational. This is because of the FCC's "Three Hour Rule" which requires that broadcasters air a minimum of three hours a week of educational and informational.

i see it only during kids shows but i've been wondering the same thing
