I don't think so, not just because of straps breaking. Like Nintendo said they didn't expect people to get so excited with it. People just need to settle down a bit and be more careful with the wiimote. That or just buy some of those Wiimote covers, they give you a better grip on it.

No, The Wii and the Playstation 3 issues are not really bad enough for a recall. Wii just has problems with the cord breaking and they do warn you about it. Well now they do.
Playstation 3 with a few controller problems and Upscaling and Downscaling not supported so some tv issues.
Xbox 360, With Overheating, burning carpets, scatching disks on just about every movement of the console, in very rare cases Wireless controller problems. Now that needed a recall.

As the Wii ages a bit, things will get better. Nintendo just needs to work out the bugs because nobody is perfect. Also, about the strap thing, the Wii-mote is designed for light impact.

No it shouldn't. First off don't depend on the stap hold on to the controller. You can look at the strap and tell that it will break. Second don't stand so close to the television that if the strap does break it will hit your tv. You can stand on the other side of the room and the remote will still work.

No, because the problem with the wrist straps is solved. Nintendo is now using bigger straps and are sending out the new straps to everyone who registered their Wii and if they got it before the new wrist straps, Nintendo will send them one for every controller you own.

Absolutely not, they haven't recalled cell phones which cause millions of dollars in vehicle damage every year. This is a situation where people need to be responsible for their own actions. Nintendo did not make you let go of the remote while playing.
