i saw that movie when it came out and was like what the hell this is boring but i watched it again and could not get my eyes off of it. then i watched it again with subtitiles. i can watch it over and over again. i love it. one of my favorites. i guess its all the detailing and all the charachters. there is so much going on in that house. my favorite character was lady sylvia and aunt constance. they were such bitches. hahaha does anyone else have a reason for liking it? and also if so does anyone have a favorite charachter and why ? everytime i watch it there is something new .

This is a great movie. I love Aunt Constance too. Maggie Smith is a fave. You are right there is so much going on. I also think the bitchinesss and meaness is glossed over by a veneer of good manners and decorum making it all the more sinsiter (and clever). The multiple stories require the viewer to pay attention. All the characters, the story lines all weave together in a complex but satisfying way. I may have to go watch it again.

LOVE, love, love it!! I love Robert Altman films - they are ensemble casts with such great characters.
