Bush

The man embarrasses conservatives by claiming to be one.

Yes, we all know war costs money, but cutting taxes while increasing spending does not work. Soon we'll have so much debt that we'll have to start paying very high interest rates due to increased default risk. This will start a downward spiral. Unless someone does something about it....

President Bush and we should all be thankful for it.
"I mean, these good folks are revolutionizing how businesses conduct their business. And, like them, I am very optimistic about our position in the world and about its influence on the United States. We're concerned about the short-term economic news, but long-term I'm optimistic. And so, I hope investors, you know-secondly, I hope investors hold investments for periods of time-that I've always found the best investments are those that you salt away based on economics."

Then again does he even have a clue?I can't stop seeing him as a puppet of interest groups.

FACTS:Current national debt as of 11/23/06 is 8,612,286,480,778.33.A politician cannot spend one dime on any spending project without first taking that dime from the person who earned it.The estimated population of the United States is 300,536,500.So each citizen's share of this debt is $28,656.37.

The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$1.24 billion per day since September 29, 2006!

arch 16, 2006 · Faced with a potential government shutdown, the Senate voted to raise the nation's debt limit for the fourth time in five years. The bill passed by a 52-48 vote, increasing the ceiling to $9 trillion. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5282521

When President Bush came into office, the national debt was a $5.6 trillion. The debt has increased by more than 50%.
Where has it gone?Dept of Agriculture,Homeland Security,State Emergency Relief (9/11 NYC,FEMA,Colorado fires,California fires, you forget huh?),Military spending (believe it or not there's no equivocal balance between military and economic supremacy, onw will always be off).
The national debt in 1946 was 120% of the gross domestic product. Those that came after, like truman, roosevelt, tisenhower, LBJ,kennedy, nixon and carter contributed individual efforts during their terms to bring the debt down to where it was prior to the war. So this may be one example, but you'll find throughout history (it repeats itself) that war inevitably so contributes to a high national debt.I beg you to ask the question," Where would America be,regardless of WMD or not, right now in terms of those who wish us harm and DID ATTACK US ON 9/11(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_11,_2001_attacks)AND HAVE ATTEMPTED SUBSEQUENT ATTACKS ON OUR PEOPLE ( http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/10/AR2006081000152.html).

In 1981, the national debt fell to 32.5% of GDP(http://zfacts.com/p/318.html). The debt went back up after President Reagan (RIP) came into office. For over a decade, through Bush's term, the debt continued to rise, which was like taking two steps forward and five steps back. It took away everything that LBJ,JFK,nixon and all the others who repaired the debt after the war. Why?
uhm...COLD WAR ...Anybody?ANybody?
Reagan restored funding for the B1 program. From 1985 to 1989, the B1 fleet grew to 94 bombers, each with the capablility of delivering nuclear warheads anywhere in Russia. The program had been halted during Carter's tenure. This refunding of this pgm introduced the b2 bomber with stealth technology, first of its kind.
Titan II ICBM (big mama jamma rocket with a high yield of power)was also a very significant tool of weaponry during the cold war. I believe we had over 50 in our arsenal. Each one cost at least 250,000,000,000.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titan_II
There are many other examples that took place during this era or time period. The person that takes the seat in the oval office must be ready to to purchase whatever guns are necessary to protect its people. I am not defending his directors who failed to work cooperatively in the interest of our Country, he should be responsible for the incompetent Robert Mueller http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2002/05/30/fbi-missed-clues-usat.htm, Not getting off track. IF you're going to hate bush, then justify your reasons for disliking what he is doing wrong.Don't let yourselves be drawn out across every issuemerely because of one major one. I hope that some of these items I went over (and supported with facts) can shed some light on why the deficit is so high.It has nothing to do with the name Bush, but everything to do with how one domino can react a chain of events. That domino was not Bush.If your talking about the nat'l debt.Point your cannons at the circumstances or the people that brought this fight to us.I suppose Reagan was wrong too for the drug wars.
