Not since the Kings left Kansas City for Sacramento in 1985 has Kansas City had a basketball team and from the way the crowds stayed away when they were in Kansas City, it doesn't look likely that Kansas City will get another basketball team any time soon. Not even future Hall of Famer Nate "Tiny" Archibald could keep the seats filled and he had some really awesome seasons as a King in Kansas City. He wound up going to Boston, becoming a Celtic, and winning himself a championship as a member of the 1981 Boston Celtics (My favorite team. I grew up in Massachusetts.)

(Associated Press)
PITTSBURGH - According to anonymous league sources, the Pittsburgh Penguins will move to Kansas City and convert from an NHL to an NBA team, since there is more interest in the latter but no availability.

Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal, Sergei Gonchar, and Marc-Andre Fleury will form the starting lineup of the Kansas City Pivoting Penguins.

"People take for granted that athletes at this level have all-around skills that can translate to any sport," said Malkin, speaking with the help of a Russian-English interpreter.

Sidney Crosby, the youngest NHL player in history to score 100 points in a season, also issued a statement in reponse to critics who feel he is wasting his phenomenal, once-in-a-generation hockey talent by switching sports.

"I know I'm supposed to be the 'Next One,' or whatever, but why would I follow in the footsteps of some washed-up canuck? This is America, and I'd rather hone my hoop skills and surpass Michael Jordan's legacy instead. At least the nickname 'Air Crosby' has my name in it."

The move will occur before the start of the 2007-2008 NBA season, with a highly excited fanbase and a brand new arena in Kansas City awaiting their arrival.

Sacramento is the best choice. Seattle was bought by some guys in Oklahoma City so if Seattle was to move they would go to OKCITY...Sacramento can't afford to build a new stadium and Arco is way too old. I haven't heard of any news of Memphis moving again(Vancouver Grizzles)

Keep a eye on the following teams:

Sacramento
Memphis
Seattle
All 3 are mulling their futures right now, no local support for new arena's.
