The Sound of Music is a musical based on a true story about a real family. It is a delightful story that incorporates some headaches, some heartaches, some serious life decisions that have to be made, and finally a happy ending as good triumphs over the not-so-good. It's a story that contains a moral, and a movie that is perfect for children to see. In fact, it's the perfect "family movie" at a time when many families are all together, and both Christmas itself, and the story of the VonTrapp family are very family orientated
LOL, will that do it for ya?

I really have no earthly idea. It is a wonderful movie and one that doesn't offend, I suppose.

I love the movie, but do not consider it a Christmas movie. Better to watch than some horror movie at this time of the year.

It's not Christmas-y. It's a movie that the whole family can watch together. However, everyone's seen it a hundred times.

Maybe because it's about a family and family is one of the staples of Christmas?
