That depends on how you received the injury, and if negligence was involved. Without knowing how you received the injury, it is hard to tell.
In order to obtain any type of compensation, you will have to prove in court that your injury was caused because of a situation that someone was aware of, but decided not to correct the situation.
You will usually be limited to 3-5 times the cost of your medical bills. And this amount will be money that either you or your insurance company has paid out. But if your insurance company pays $3000 to fix your leg, and you get $10,000 in the settlement, then the insurance company will want their $3000 back.
Compensation for pain and suffering won't get you that million dollars. While you will get some money for pain and suffering, you should look at getting money for potential future wages lost.
For example - if you are a ditch digger, and now because of this fracture you can't dig ditches, then you can look at getting compensated for a loss of your career. But this won't get you enough money to retire - just enough money to assist you in learning how to do something else at that level of skill.
Your compensation for lost wages will be determined by how much money you make per year. If you make $24,000 a year, don't expect to get $500,000. The judge could award you one year's pay, and if you received that amount, consider yourself lucky.
If you are a professional athlete, then this is a serious injury that could get you millions of dollars.
But don't forget that you have to prove negligence - or you won't see a dime. For example, you are in a supermarket, there is water all over the floor, and it has been there for hours, and you slip and fall and are injured. You will have to prove that the operators of the supermarket knew that the water was there, but they did not do anything about it. And you will have to get eye witnesses that will state that they saw the water there, and you will have to establish a time line to verify the negligence.
I would call a lawyer. And, if possible, settle this out of court. But keep good records - all of your medical bills, time lost from work, etc. - and keep a daily journal of how bad the pain is, and what the injury prevented you from doing. You will need as much evidence in the deposition and/or court room to prove that you need a lot of compensation. Just saying "ouch, they hurt me - I want millions" won't work...
