Christmas is almost upon us and to combat the excess of the period, Ive bought some milk thistle tablets. I know that they are very good at helping the liver to deal with alcohol, but Im unsure when to take the tablets. In other words, should I start taking them days before I go out to build up a resistance, or should I take them on the day or night that Im planning to have a few drinks?

I don"t think it works like that. First of all it takes a good 2 wks B 4 medication gets into your system and take effect. You should take Milk Thistle anyway. It is a safe drug with no side effects. It will guard your liver from any toxin. Alchohol, over the counter medication and prescription medication. Have a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year.

They don't counteract alcohol, but they help protect the liver. In other words, don't plan on milk thistle turning alcohol innocent.

I take 4 capsules every day, 2 at rising, 2 before bed, 175 mg.

they arent a miracle pill as far as alcohol consumption, but i would take them before and during your extra partying spree begins. The worst thing you can do for your liver is mix alcohol and Tylenol or Advil, as tempting as it may be!
