some vocab quizes i have made...were crossword puzzles, word searches, fill in the missing letter, hangman, etc.
depending on the age..we also have played vocab baseball
- i would say a word or give the defination..and the child would tell me the meaning or word for a single). If they got on base they got an individual point. (base..an area of the classroom). I split them up into teams ...made them fair...smart kids/not so smart/slackers, etc...if they got home..around all the bases they would get a team point if they made it home (around all the bases). Then at the end of the game..I would give them a written quicky quiz...but if they got more then 10 individual points ..they wouldn't need to take it...give them some incentive. (some are better verbal then written, etc..)
-I have done this with spelling words and math problems also

You could have them make their own quizzes! List the words (or a few of them) and have them choose a few of them to write multiple choice questions for. You could have them list four words, one of which is the antonym, or one of which is the synonym.
Example:
Words are strong, dark, high, happy, and cold. Needs to pick 3.
Student picks strong, high, and cold.
Must write antonyms for each.
1. STRONG
a) smelly
b) weak (answer)
c) piano
d) heroic
2. HIGH
a) low (answer)
b) boring
c) bloody
d) intrepid
Etc...
If that makes any sense.

Give them the words in a scrambled format. Then give them one word to hint at the scrambled vocab word.

You could try making a simple crossword puzzle assuming the words would work in one.

Maybe you can put the definition of the word and on the side of it and they can put the vocab word there.
