You can use it for horse bedding. My horses tend to like to eat it and so it doesn't make a good bedding for them.

Staw makes decent bedding. It's drawbacks are that it get's very heavy when wet and is not easy to pick out in between major cleanings. Works great for pigs okay for horses. A horse would have to be half starved to eat enough straw to cause any problem. They used it for hundreds of years before wood shavings.

If you aren't starving your horse it shouldn't try to eat it. That's all they used before people realized they could make money on special bedding. Wheat straw is different though- pigs can handle that but the beards can get imbedded in the horse (inside and out) and cause infection. Pigs are tollerant of like... EVERYTHING.

Emily is right, straw is very dense and heavy. Horses don't like to eat it to begin with and pigs can digest nearly anything. It will be very difficult to keep clean however unless you are just going to toss some out in the pasture where it can break down naturally.

I'm not exactly sure what your question is asking but I think your talking about straw for bedding? Do not use straw for horse bedding, some horses may think it is hay and try to eat it, causing them very bad stomach aches (colic) and can be very expensive to take care of the horse after colicing. I would suggest saw dust and shavings for horse bedding.

Straw is OK for horses, but cedar or pine shavings are best.
