Some people are bitter or angry. Others treat people like crap unintentionally. Have you ever had that happen to you? You think somebody is being really mean and blowing you off, but the person was just oblivious to what was going on. Sometimes people treat others like crap because they're having a bad day. I think the list of reasons could go on and on.

Maybe they were treated badly their whole life and it is a learned instinct. They might just get off on it and feel superior. They probably have no friends and are miserable and need to make others feel bad too.

Because they're shallow and heartless and can amuse themselves by causing others emotional pain. Sometimes its probably to make themselves feel better, because they know how pathetic they really are... so, they figure that making other people feel pathetic will be a fix.

It is a sad thing, I agree. I have found through my lifetime that people are often rude to someone they feel inferior to.
Some have the sad misconception that they are superior to someone else.
