It is your family that owns the business that you work for and it is a S corporation. Also you believe that there is some other "illegal" things going on too.

If your payroll check is not honored by the bank, the first thing you do is make a complaint with your state wage and hour division of the state employment department. There can be fines among other things and the state will watch them for future violations. It would also be wise to get out of there while you have the opportunity.

Who told you that you cannot cash the check? If a bank, then there is no money to cover the check. If it is your employer, I would be wondering why I was working there for an invalid paycheck and would be calling the Attorney General's office to report fraud!!! Then the legal system can determine is something illegal is happening.

First: try to cash the check at the same bank your employer banks at. Second: ask for a cashier check or money order. Third: file a claim with your state district attorney. Fourth: leave that job.

What bank did you go to to cash the check? If you didn't already go to the back that the check was written from, go there. If you already did that, then demand payment in cash and find a new job, immediately, even if you're working at McDonald's. You can't trust that they will pay you in the future.

The answer is obvious. If your family cares so little for you that they refuse to pay you, then it is time to go make a living elsewhere. A good rule of thumb is business & family don't mix.

More details such as age, living at home, supporting yourselfonly or others, etc. would help us help you. Good Luck.

get out while you still can. how is it you are being paid, if you can't cash your pay check? that my friend is, NOT being paid. if you believe things are not up,and up. it probably isn't. there are many job's out there, if anyone is out of work more than 2 weeks, either their standards are to high, or not looking for a job. i worked for family once in my life, i will never do that again. wasn't getting paid properly and almost got in trouble with them too.

Jim has the proper answer, state wage and hour, sometimes you can file a complaint online or by phone. I would not confront anyone, you will only give them time to cover their tracks. Be sure that you have documents.

If something illegal is going on get a different job-and family or not break off all ties with them.

First, I would confront my family members and let them know it is wrong. If they don't listening to you, i would tell authorities. This maybe hard, but they might end up better in the end. I would also pray to God and ask for His help.

If the check is no good then he ISN'T paying you. Report them and get out on your own.
