Do you mean practice to be content, instead of contempt? Contentment is a state of mind, right enough and if you believe you are suffering from depression and it has gone on for some time, see your doctor. He or she can recomend you to a councilor to help talk out these sort of things, usually without any mood altering drugs. You'll very likely soon discover that your family problems will smooth out if you find the method of dealing with them instead of letting them bother you to the point it is interfering with your work performance. Unless you meant that the supervisor always picked on you for petty things before you became distracted. In that case, it's harrassment and illegal, at least where I live it is.

The first step to being happy is to BE HAPPY. Find something that you enjoy or that makes you laugh, and do it! I recaptured my interest in clay that had been submerged under twenty years of people saying that I shouldn't be playing with a child's toy, graduated up to working with more expensive, adult clays and now have a copyrighted line of sculptures and greeting cards. But the most important thing was, I ENJOYED IT! If I ever feel low and nothing is cheering me up, I go to some of the joke pages that I subscribe to and laugh, and laugh. Nature walks also make me feel better and I hope they do you.

Good luck and remember that you are the most important person in your world and that's not a selfish attitude, just the truth.

And I don't accept just what life has offered, I always give it some gentle, and some not-so-gentle, nudges to have it adapt to what I want without doing any harm to others. If possible.

There is no easy answer to this...

I think... for starter... you must not let people pick on you and give you a hard time. Stand up for yourself and tell them off.
When you do... you will start feeling a lot better about yourself.

Don't let them intimidate you with blackmail. Stand your ground and bluff them. You don't want to have people walking all over you for the rest of your life... no matter what the cost. Your health is more important than all the money in the world.

happiness is not a switch you can turn on and off. i too can get very depressed at times. and it is hard to get out of. the things i like to do to help in clude meditation. but the best thing i usually do is to excersize. it releases allot of energy , gets your heart rate up. and makes your body healthy. you waste too much mental energy being depressed, and allit does is keep you down in every way . you have to acctually want to feel better and be willing to put in the effort to do so, not just one time energy but continious regularly scheduled energy. exersize unit you are tired, pretty tired, then rest. do this 3 times a week , doing different exersizes, after two weeks i garauntee youwill feel better. the energy you used to waste, goes to your body and building yourself. after time your mind doesnt let you worry about those things. your body feels better your mind feels better, you have more energy, all this together naturally builds more confidence, and with confidence youcan do more with your life like standing up for your self. this really helpsme i hope it does you.
