It used to be an ill-famed district on account that mangkes and koutsavakia were the regular users of the tavernas and bars of the area. Now is a respectable neighborhood with many bars and restaurants that cater for the Athenians, young and old alike. Anafiotika is the only district of Athens that has for the most part stayed unchanged through the last century because people respected the beauty the neighborhood emanated and they tried to conserve the same scenery and feeling. Presently, the old houses are reconstructed in the same architectural style they originally were built. One of the few places that time has stayed unchanged.
