My teachers tell me I write awesome poems, and everybnody tells me I have the best stories. I want to be a writer, so how exactly. I know if I send my work to a publishing company, it will most likely be ignored. Help please...

You can try to send your work to journals and magazines.

You can check out the Writers Market (it's the best source of contact information for publishers, journals, etc).

For now, do your writing on the side, keeping on with school or a regular job. Send your work to everyplace you can think of that publishes your type of items. Don't be discouraged if you get a lot of rejection letters - most published authors have boxes full of them from when they started out. Keep your options open so you have other ways to make a living, but keep writing and trying to sell your work.

Good luck.
