We have a (UP TO) 2MB Broadband deal atm, will it make a difference if we upgrade to (UP TO) 8MB for an extra £2? We also get free calls with this i do download quite a bit.

At the moment a speed test puts us :
600-900kbps

So this is way under the 2MB mark i think it would make a big difference if we paid an extra £2 for (up to) 8MB Broadband?

8mb band is too much faster than the 2mb ones the difrence is not in opening the pages but also in downloading movies, music, book and etc.

it makes a big difference when it comes to surfing the Internet and downloading
for example say you are downloading a file that is 25 megabytes
at 2MB it would take about 1 minute now if you have the 8MB it would only take 25 seconds
of course there are certain stipulations like the uploader's upload speed and how much traffic there is on the uploader's network same goes for the downloader.
another thing is how much of your system resources is being used.

If your speed is only testing out at 900 kps when you should be getting 2MB I would call up your ISP and say "Hey I ain't getting what I am paying for here whats up? " Of course the 8 MB is better in fact its down right wonderful take it for the extra 2 bucks or what ever. Just so you know 1000kps = 1MB
thus you are being deceived by your ISP provider I would take them up on that personally. Boy I envy you by the way. I am stuck in an area of the world where I can only get Dial up :(
Wanna trade places lol?

if your current speed test is at 600-900 thats looks already 6-8mb connection, but most speed tests are incorrect.
best way to test it is to download 2 files from a website say microsoft to get a proper speed test, and download from thing like limewire etc is no way to test it.

i would only upgrade your speed if your doing lots of downloading, file sharing etc.. since if your just surfing the net, then no u dont need the upgrade.

You could try it on a trial basis, likely. Just ask. Otherwise, unless you have LOTS of computers on your network all browsing and streaming music and video at the same time, you may not notice. We have up to 12 computers on our home network at any one time and our ISP provides 4Mb speed downloads and it's just fine. Most websites, FTP sites, and streaming media sites cap the speeds anyway so you'll likely never fully realize the benefits.

If you'll be using a VoIP phone, it might help since they'll likely provide a broadband router to plug your phone into that utilizes QoS (Quality of Service), a protocol that gives phone traffic a priority over all others.

Yes. About four times the speed. Does that help?
