what could have been

"What could have been" makes one believe that there was a least a chance but someone or something interfered. Moreover, one would infer that whatever it was that you wish could have been (such as a relationship) you spent some time experiencing.

"What will never be" is exactly that - Never. And never generally means at no time past, present or future.

It's like: "Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all". Which I can't say I agree with 100% because you have to live with the good and bad memories of love. And if there are more bad memories it's really wasn't worth being in love.

Okay, that's my soapbox for toady (Sorry!!!) Hopefully, my initial answer is sufficient.

What could have been... there is a probability of 50/50 whereas What will never be leaves the chances of something wonderful happening at 0, zippo, nada, nil

In practicality, neither are either better or worse. We may think a missed opportunity is worse, in fact, the missed opportunity is the reaction to a previous action

what could have been

because now you know what you missed and you can still do something about it if you really want it to happen, or to mend things if it's still possible., there are still many possibilities.,

where as what will never be sounds so...final, the end., i mean thats that, it would never happen yet your still there to know that and regret it and feel sad about it and stuff. it's so hopeless and sad.,

"What could have been" is based on the "if" factor; endless possibilities, and no actual result. "What will never be" is rather pointless too. In life, as rational human beings, we should focus on what WILL be, if we at least have the power of intuition.

what could have been speaks of something that you never tried and what will never be speaks of something you will never have...nothing is actually better.
