This at one time was all considered peaceful and beautiful.

Then it got "demonized", by Christianity. I don't know why they decided to view all of this as evil.

If a person wasn't afraid of their Grandmother while they were alive, why should they be afraid of her spirit after she has died? Know what I mean? She has the same spirit.

The Spanish culture, as well as other cultures, have not lost the good, connected with all this. They have they're Day Of The Dead, which is to remember they're ancestors, celebrate them, and take care of their graves on a nice warm day, too!

They're are even picnics, games, and celebrations.

And they picture they're loved ones who have passed on doing all the same things we do. They have little sculptures. You can by you're deceased loved one a little car, and then I guess they believe they will get a car in the other world. Very beautiful beliefs!

And a very strong culture!

Most cultures do have some beliefs of evil connected with the dead. But you're only at risk if you break taboos, and they are kept in place to honor the dead.

Such as, you cannot walk across a grave.

That would include messing with a Ouija, because you could pull in a bad spirit.

Even one that you might think is a good one, and is not.

I think believing in ghosts, and spirits, we now have come to know, brings a real sense of peace, just to know there really is more out there. And a sense of connection, and communication with our loved ones, and others.

I'm not! My dad was a Funeral Director and a spiritualist. He had no fear of death - fortunately, whilst I haven't the same conviction as my dad had, I'm not afraid of death, (but I'm a bit concerned of how I will die, cancer - illness etc.) graveyards or corpses....................... I don't know if I believe in the physical manifestation of ghosts, but I do believe that the spirit still lives.
I've seen some terrible things whilst I worked for my dad - and I've experienced some really spooky stuff which has kinda freaked me out though!

It's a fear of the unknown, if the human race can't explain things away or account for them rationally, then we have a tendency to get frightened!

I'm personally very intrigued with the spirit world! I'd probably run the other way if I saw something though!

Graveyards used to be 'haunted' by graverobbers and I believe that was enough to scare anyone out of them for generations! People seem to fear what they don't know, and that is what makes them afraid of spirits and the dead. It's like superstitious contamination. One person swears to it and everyone becomes afraid. Graveyards, dead, and spirits can't hurt you. I am only afraid of the living!

Its because its something out of our control. Ghosts are something (apparently) that we dont choose to witness but can. Anything that we are unsure of how to get away from or have experianced is scary-like death, therefor graveyards-full of it! Im absoloutly petrified of dying as I love life so much and we're only here once, I hate the thought of it being taken away from me as theres so much to do! My boyfriend isnt scared of anything, even death-that's something I cant comprehend!

after sumone dies, people blieve they will not see that person until they die, the thought of the dead amongst the living or living amongst the dead, creeps folk out. and graveyards along with ghosts remind them that they will leave sumtime as well, which also scares them bcus they dont wanna leave 4 the most part. I aint afraid of that bcus i accept the fact that people die, its unavoidable. its painful when sumone u care about dies of course, but facts r facts

I am , i am petrified of Grave-yards, give me the heebie-jeebies. I think it is because it is not an everyday occurrence, it is not something you see all the time. We don't know much , nothing at all, about it , that is why it is scary. Have a great Christmas:)))
