Ok, I am currently writing a story about vampires for my language class. Pretty much, the dude vampire bites the girl human, she becomes a vampire and blah, blah, blah (other stuff too complex to explain in great detail), They end up falling in love, and I don't know where/how to end it. I have a feeling someone should die or betray someone. I dunno. (also- this is not at all inspired by the book twilight. At all. I didn't read that till the story was mostly done.). Please, serious suggestions only. No making fun of the story (it is much better in story form) and no stupid type ideas. Thanks for the help and leave your name if you want me to credit you on the final copy that I turn in to my language teacher.

A vampire lives on the blood of others. He moves on and bites another female whom he starts a love relationship with. Your female lead becomes enrage and plots the destruction of the new lover. Setting it up so a vampire hunter can kill the girlr she unwittingly provides an opportunity for the hunter to kill her lover leaving her with nothing.

Writing a story is an opportunity to offer your perspective on life or human nature. The ending should first reflect what you think about life or human nature. Your examples (a character dies or betrays) suggests that you don't think love can last, or that people with flaws (vampirism, for example) can't sustain a relationship. Or whatever you think those endings would mean. Some writers, like Anne Rice, decided to make her vampires more sympathetic, but recognized the tragedies of never aging and dying. Once you decide what ending makes emotional sense to you, then you can analyze how your audience might respond. Sometimes surprising your readers is a good idea. Sometimes a happy ending appeals to more people. Sometimes someone reading a vampire story expects the vampires to be defeated, and if you don't put them out of their misery, your readers will be disappointed. Since you're just doing it as an exercise for class, you might not care to worry about reader expectation yet, but it's a good thing to practice too.

You could have the female/girlfriend vampire killed. This turns the male/boyfriend vampire into a character torn by undying love for his dead vamp girlfriend, and undying hatred towards mankind. From here you could take it anywhere, even a sequel based either on his continued undying hatred, or his eventual redemption.

It is romantic but tragic to end a romance where the couple is divided between two worlds and (?) maybe never to see each other again...a sequel could be in the works.
Or end like Romeo and Juliet. This would be good for Vampires.

1. She discovers he already has a girlfriend
2. A vampire hunter puts a stake through his heart.
When she finds out about it, she runs outside in the sun and dies.
